Maria Zirra holds a PhD degree from the Department of English at Stockholm University. Her research investigates the relation between visual art, poetry, and memory in the works of Seamus Heaney, Derek Walcott and Wopko Jensma. You can find the episode here.

Maria currently teaches at Uppsala University and her next project “Reading Artworlds in Small Print” will be exploring collaborations between writers and visual artists in Caribbean and South African magazines published between the 1950s and the 1970s.
